eDition task bar is divided into three different parts. Left part, middle part and right part. Left and right part can not be resized. Proportion and size remain the same ( 9-slice). Only middle part is resized horizontally, so task bar is stretched from side to side, no matter how wide your monitor is. Figure 9-slice shows task bar structure.

Scaling of task bar

9-slice scaling lets you scale task bar without widening the strokes that outline the movie clip. 9-slice scaling is limited with 4 guidelines which can be modified the same as normal guidelines (drag and move).

You can think of the eight regions outside of the center (defined by the rectangle) as being like a picture frame that has special rules applied to it when the movie clip is scaled.

When the movie clip is scaled the following rules apply (Figure 9-slice):

• All content in the center region scales normally. (Red)
• Any content in the corners are only scaled when the center region is scaled to 0. (Blue)
• Any content in the top and bottom regions scale only horizontally. Content in the left-hand and right-hand regions scale only vertically. (Green)
• All fills (including bitmaps, video, and gradients) are stretched to fit their shapes.
• Task bar is scaled only horizontally. Height remains the same.

By moving left and right guideline you can reserve more regions on far left and far right side. There you can insert some logo or custom made buttons. Example shows (Figure modifying 9-slice guidelines) that left side where My logo and far right side where My banner is, has no scale. My logo and My banner movie clips are inserted by use of Men_buttons_left and Men_buttons_right MovieClip (Figure ART, Set 7.) More detailed description is written on "Custom buttons" section.
